The Revd Jonathan Aitken
Journalism
Jonathan Aitken’s first job in journalism was a summer vacation position as Assistant Tennis and Funerals Correspondent to the East Anglian Daily Times in Ipswich.
As a student journalist he was a frequent contributor to Cherwell and Isis. He was Editor of Oxford Tory.
From 1966 to 1971 he was a reporter, foreign correspondent and war correspondent for the London Evening Standard.
In 1972-3 he was a Management Executive for Beaverbrook Newspapers.
In his journalistic career he has written articles for over 40 newspapers and magazines across the world including: The Spectator; The Sunday Times; The Sydney Morning Herald; The Washington Post; The Times; The Independent; The Daily Telegraph; The Guardian; The Daily Mail; The Mail on Sunday; and many others.
Much of Jonathan's journalistic output is at The Churchill Archives in Cambridge.
He was a regular columnist for The American Spectator when it was still being circulated in print.
